PERMANENT HOUSING FOR LANDSLIDE BENEFICIARIES: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the groundbreaking and time capsule laying ceremony of the City of Naga Permanent Housing Project at Balili Lot, Barangay Inoburan, this city. The President was assisted by Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino, National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada, Jr., and Acting City Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong.

The National Housing Authority (NHA) will construct 192 housing units and is targeting to complete the project within 408 calendar days. The first 200 days is allocated for the land development of the project site which will be facilitated by the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB). As an added bonus, the President announced that the beneficiaries will have their new homes for free.

The main project beneficiaries are the affected families whose houses fall within the No Permanent Habitation or Danger Zones declared by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR - MGB) after the landslide which hit Naga in September 20, 2018. A total 213 families opted to avail of the relocation project while the other 205 chose the financial and building assistance from the City Government.

In her welcome message, Acting City Mayor Kristine Vanessa T. Chiong assured everyone that there will be enough housing units for the affected families as the City Government also initiated a 50-unit city-funded housing project at Tapon, Tinaan in the amount of PHP 24.6 million and has a similar design with that of the NHA Project. Construction of the houses started last March 2019 and are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2020. Acting City Mayor Kristine also took the opportunity to convey her gratitude to everyone for their support.

The ceremony was also graced by Senator Christoper Lawrence "Bong" Go, Governor Gwen Garcia, Congressman Eduardo R. Gullas, Regional and Provincial Directors of National Agencies, business sector, barangay captains, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
